RollDock and Roll-Lift joined forces.

Roll Group was awarded by NEM Energy BV for the transportation of two boiler blocks and two combustor units from Taiwan to Malaysia.
This project was a perfect example of an ideal Roll Group assignment, allowing the Company to put to work the combined capabilities of its in-house engineering department and its experienced heavy transportation teams, enabling it to offer a complete tailor-made solution by both land and sea. The preparations
NEM Energy BV involved the Roll Group at an early stage which made it possible for the shipper to devise a smart, safe and fast solution for this specific case. The Group’s engineers worked together with the NEM team to produce a precisely fitting sea fastening design which was integrated into the boiler block. In total Roll Group will transport two boiler blocks, each weighing nearly 2,000 tons, two combustor units, various air fan ducting structures and multiple steel frames. Because of the weight of the cargo, Roll Group engineers had to reinforce the load-out quay as in its original state the quay strength was insufficient to handle the load. For this, the Group used 150 pieces of steel beams, enabling it to spread the load over a larger area.

The loading
Roll-Lift used 72 axle lines of SPMT’s to roll the boiler blocks and combustor units on board the RollDock Sky. For the remainder of the cargo the Company used the vessel’s own heavy lift cranes.

Blue Water Shipping Conducts Complex transport operation of components for a Drilling Rig from Asia to South America

Blue Water Shipping is a worldwide specialist in a project freight forwarding with more than 40 years of experience.
The job in this project was to transport a massive lower hull and heavy topside components for the upper hull of a Semi-submersible Drilling Rig from Asia to South America. The Company’s Singapore office was in charge of the challenging project that involved strong team work with the Blue Water’s client, external partners and other Blue Water’s offices.

The complexity of the project included engineering for the sea fastening and load spreading design, as well as finding the right vessel for each shipment, due to the nature and size of the components.

Dat scheepje vaarde in de tachtiger jaren een soort lijndienst tussen Italie en Libie met onderdelen voor de olie industrie. Ghedaffi is nu wijlen en wat er van de olie boringen in die zandbak is terechtgekomen is een vraag.

Iemand enig idee van het nut en/of de noodzaak van die "boegspriet" op de eerste foto ?
't Lijkt me tbv het manouevreren, wie weet er het fijne van ?

Iemand enig idee van het nut en/of de noodzaak van die "boegspriet" op de eerste foto ?

Zoals bij alle, toch vrij lange schepen met de brug bijna iop de bak, zoals ook lakers, is dat om het "op het zicht" sturen te vergemakkelijken. Je ziet eerder dat het schip wegloopt. Op dergelijke schepen sta je bij bruggen en sluizen, maar ook in kanalen meer achteruit te kijken dan vooruit om in de gaten te houden waar zijn staart heen zwiept. Dat had ik zelfs op een schip als de verlengde Prinsenborg waar je toch nog een heel luik plus de bak voor je had. Maar zo'n spriet had je daar niet nodig.

Die boegspriet was in het Suezkanaal verplicht voor deze Fels schepen.
